After spending many years working in the service industry I experienced a life changing event and was hit by the realisation that this was not how I wanted to spend the rest of my life.
I sold my house and began to travel, seeing both many beautiful things and, contrastingly, much suffering. Upon my return my outlook on life had changed. This change began to mature when I started to learn Tai Chi.
Whilst studying Tai Chi & Qigong, I developed a great interest in Oriental medicine. Being a firm believer in the healing power of touch I decided to combine this belief with my new interest and subsequently attended the European Shiatsu School for three years, graduating in 1996. I received my diploma and final Shiatsu Society recognition of competence in 1997 thus allowing me to use the initials MRSS (Member of the Professional Register of the Shiatsu Society).
Over the years in Shiatsu practice I have developed my own style and techniques, often working in an intuitive way. My many years experience with Tai Chi & Qigong has enabled me to pass on simple yet effective exercises to my clients, where necessary, to complement their treatments.
Attending a short course in basic needling techniques allows me to use acupuncture to good effect within my treatment sessions. Please note that I am NOT a qualified acupuncturist and can only needle the limbs.
I have continued my studies with Tai Chi & Qigong, learning with some well-respected teachers and masters over the years. I have myself been teaching these disciplines since 1993 and once held several classes each week, with Adult Education services in Kent, producing my own DVDs for both Tai Chi and Shibashi as learning aids along the way. As my Shiatsu practice has increased, so my teaching has been reduced and I now hold just a few private classes in the Faversham/Sittingbourne area.
The occasional one/two day workshops of Tai Chi, Qigong, and introductory Shiatsu are always well attended.
Another venture that proved to be popular was the retreat inTuscany that my wife and I hosted each year.
